Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, with additional responsibility to the athletic directors at the Metropolitan Campus (D-I) and the Florham Campus (D-III), the Director of Development – University Athletics is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the development activities for all athletics fundraising. The Director will be responsible for the strategic and effective management of a portfolio of current and prospective donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, and he/she will work in accordance with the policies, practices and protocols of fundraising best practices as established by the Office of University Advancement. The director will engage in face-to-face visits intended to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and current donors who can support the initiatives of the athletic departments and the University. In conjunction with the University's development staff, the Director will help plan and execute any capital campaigns targeted to support intercollegiate athletics. The Director will also support other fundraising initiatives of the athletic departments including golf tournaments, corporate sponsorships and the annual Hall of Fame dinners. The Director maintains a portfolio of active prospects for support, and is responsible for the successful solicitation of these prospects.
2.A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development, fundraising, and/or university athletics or similar programs.
3.The ability to develop successful major donor solicitation strategies.
4.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5.The ability and willingness to travel locally and nationally.
6.Computer literacy and familiarity with development-centered software.
7.Valid driver's license and accessibility to transportation.
8.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
