The Assistant Director, Special Events will a) independently plan, implement and manage special events for the school, b) provide recommendations to department and school leadership about how events could be strategically implemented to promote the school's brand and mission, c) manage financial accounts for special event budgets and expenses, and d) supervise casual and student employees providing logistical support for events and projects.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Required Experience: 3 years relevant administrative and event experience, including budget management and the conceptualization, planning and implementation of multiple special events.
Preferred Experience: Related experience in higher education or a large non-profit organization is preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent customer service skills. Highly creative with the ability to develop new ideas for events. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to professionally interact with diverse internal and external customer groups. Knowledge of standard office software. Budget management experience.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Database management experience, especially with Salesforce. Experience with online registration systems, website maintenance, and social media. Audiovisual expertise. Experience managing multiple, complex budgets. Experience working with students. Creativity with the ability to develop new events.
