The Department of Art and Art History is accepting applications for a three-year, fixed term Professor of the Practice in Photography. The appointment will begin July 1, 2018 and will be renewable pending funding. The candidate will be expected to teach 3 courses each semester or its equivalent, work with honors undergraduate students, perform service to the university, serve on MFA committees for students in our interdisciplinary graduate studio program, and maintain an active research/exhibition practice. The candidate will be assigned a private studio space on campus for the duration of employment. The deadline for applications is midnight, November 10, 2017.

Education and Experience:
We are seeking an accomplished, experienced and energetic artist that primarily or consistently engages photographic practices and/or theory in their studio work. Applicants should be interested in, and able to, teach a combination of: basic and advanced black and white darkroom photography; alternative processes; digital imaging; medium-large format, digital, video, and have a strong working knowledge of historical and contemporary theories and practices. The candidate is expected to be a dedicated and inspiring teacher, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, actively engage in service within the Department, and maintain an active exhibition/research practice. As an interdisciplinary program, we expect each faculty member to be able to discuss, critique and engage with work across disciplines. Competitive candidates must have an MFA with an emphasis in photography. Preference will be given to those with current or recent college-level teaching experience.
