The Sr. Manager Data Management and Governance will be responsible for developing and deploying our data management framework for improving data quality, cleanliness, timeliness, and accessibility across the enterprise. A robust data management program is critical to the execution of major strategic initiatives, and this enterprise leadership role has significant executive visibility and support. Together with key stakeholders across the company, the Sr. Mgr. will create the operating model by which data management responsibilities and accountabilities are shared across functional and system boundaries. She/he will have a key role in building a Center of Excellence focused on standardizing and sharing best practices in data management. The Sr. Mgr. will be responsible for benchmarking and developing the organizations data management capability and maturity levels.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In partnership with the Director Data Governance Supply Chain, Global Process owners and IT, define, develop, and implement the vision, strategy and methods by which West acquires, analyzes, governs, and manages the structure and quality of data.
Responsible for the development and refinement of global data structures, processes, and tracking improvement metrics as requested by the business across all functions.
Oversee the Master Data components of all West Enterprise processes and procedures necessary for enterprise-wide efficient data management.
Investigates and initiates appropriate corrective action when data quality does not meet required quality levels as identified by the Global Process Owner group.
Reviews and/or recommends proposed changes in data standards and processes which impacts data.
Assists the Process owners in the definition of business requirements relevant to data elements.
Define and Implement policies and procedures relevant to Data governance, assisted by the Master Data Stewards.
Responsible for staying current on data management, data governance training, business rules, and data standards as they are implemented.
Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
Becomes a Change Ambassador, promoting and ensuring adoption of new processes or implementations across West.
Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance
Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's in related field
Experience: 10+ years of experience Experience with large scale, global data governance and harmonization efforts.
Must be methodical, detail-oriented, and well-organized.
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into system requirements.
Experience with SAP master data.
Experience leading a globally diverse team.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to interact appropriately in a matrixed environment with all levels of the organization.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
Understanding of the interrelationship and impact of master data on functions/applications.
Basic understanding of the people side of behavioral change
Project management experience is a plus
Experience with computer system validation and validated testing is a plus
Master’s Degree in related fields Proficient with Office Productivity products
Experience in implementation of Master Data Management solution
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel: 25% international travel is required
