The West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Quality Improvement Nurse Specialist. This position will assist Project WATCH to improve the quality of data collected at WV birth facilities. Incumbent will assist the team with all aspects of data collection at the hospital level.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Travel regularly to birth facilities across the state of WV and work closely with Nurse Managers and hospital staff at Birth Facilities on the various newborn surveillance initiatives covered by Project WATCH.
Implement training and education, and partner with staff to ensure that the data is collected properly to improve quality outcomes.
Audit data entry work activities of hospital staff for Project Watch to validate the accuracy of data, including monitoring and ensuring the validity of data entered into the Epic system.
Present, communicate and engage birth hospital staff on quality data.
Provide a high level of data quality awareness across birth hospital staff.
Attend and facilitate quality assessment/process improvement meetings to assure staff understanding and engagement in related processes and Project WATCH initiatives.
Evaluate and identify where system improvements are required.
Work closely with Project WATCH epidemiologist to design reports, analyses, and graphic presentation to communicate database statistics, date errors, and overall trends for each hospital.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
Four (4) years of experience in newborn nursery/maternal and child medicine
Experience in data collection/utilization
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
