Teach primarily undergraduate graphic design courses. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Graphic Design, Typography, Experience Design (UX/UI), Motion Design, Visual Systems & Brand Identity and History of Graphic Design.
Typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
Academically advise students and mentor their creative work and research.
Contribute to advancing the goals of the graphic design program, including curricular assessment and development.
Help maintain and develop various supplemental student learning resources.
Provide service to the department, University, students and community and continued academic and creative research.
Earned an MFA and/or terminal degree in Graphic Design or in a similar discipline.
Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate graphic design courses.
Strong ability to foster the experimental, collaborative, and interdisciplinary nature of graphic design.
Well-versed in graphic design and its social, cultural and historical context.
A comprehensive knowledge of graphic design and the design techniques used during the creation of visual responses to communication problems, including the use of hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, composition and construction of meaningful images.
Ability to demonstrate complexity at the visual systems level, even when designing individual components.
Ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to their academic needs and concerns.
Experience in behavioral, UX/UI and human-centered design.
Ability to develop and to teach a course in the History of Graphic Design.
Evidence of high level of skill, judgment and professional accomplishment in graphic design.
Experience teaching graphic design at the undergraduate level.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse learning and working environment.
Experience utilizing graphic design tools and technology to support teaching.
