The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Parking Enforcement Assistant to provide all aspects of parking enforcement requirements on University property. To include but not limited to: write/issue parking tickets, boot and tow scofflaws, collect ticket and boot fees in field, search for and confiscate counterfeit, lost or stolen permits.
Will place and take down traffic cones, barricades and rope or tape for special events. Will assist motorists with unlocking cars, jump-starts, etc. This position is responsible for monthly emergency phone verification. Must be able to use many different types of equipment: two-way radio, typewriter, fax machine, computer and telephone. Must be able to handle equipment in a responsible manner. Drive department vehicle and have no history of motor vehicle accidents on the job or during past three years.
Must have excellent interpersonal relations/communications and be able to communicate with the public and clearly give directions. Must be able to fully understand, interpret and apply University of Pittsburgh's parking rules and regulations.
Must have knowledge of parking access equipment and be able to troubleshoot malfunctions.
Will work rotating shift hours: 9:00 AM 5:30 PM and 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM weekdays and some weekends. Will be required to work a variety of schedules including weekends, on-call and overtime.
*Note: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time all over campus; must be able to lift barricades, boots (place on vehicles) and signs. Must have a valid PA driver's license, be 21 years of age and must have a clean driving record which will be validated through a DMV check.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
High School diploma or GED required. Some college preferable. Contact will be with all levels of the University community i.e. students, staff and faculty & visitors. Mechanical background or mechanical skills very helpful in order to troubleshoot equipment failures or malfunctions. Good verbal and writing skills required. Experience in an IBM/PC environment preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
