The Office of Clinical Experiences is located within the College of Education, the oldest college on campus which serves approximately 3,000 students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Office of Clinical Experiences (OCE) is dedicated to ensuring that all College of Education students receive clinical experience placements in schools that meet the standards established by the College of Education, the New Jersey Department of Education and all accrediting bodies. In addition, the office is responsible for supporting candidates applying for certification through the New Jersey State Department of Education. OCE supports the College of Education’s commitment to addressing issues of access, social justice and equity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, manage and maintain the undergraduate and graduate clinical experience/practice placement process effectively and efficiently to secure placement for all teacher candidates and other school support professionals in the college that align with established policies and requirements
Supervise the placement specialist and assistants within OCE, including assignment of tasks and completion of annual ePAR evaluations
Oversee the Tk20 Assessment system as it relates to clinical experiences/clinical practice, including maintaining accurate placement data, placement applications, and assessment forms
Prepare placement data reports for the dean’s office and field partners
Maintain and implement revisions to forms and other procedural materials related to clinical experiences/clinical practice to ensure compliance with College of Education, NJ Department of Education and accreditation policies
Provide instruction and guidance to students, faculty and staff regarding placement policies, school district policies and other placement requirements
Serve as office liaison for College of Education program and department meeting
Coordinate with school districts to continually assess new district requirements and disseminate new College of Education requirements as it relates to placements
Perform other related tasks as assigned
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree
One (1) year of professional experience in review and analysis of administrative practices, policies, and operations; including making recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability in utilizing technology
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and college as well as school district personnel throughout New Jersey
Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
Commitment to issues of diversity, access, social justice and equity
Familiarity with the region and with New Jersey public school organization and related regulations
