Reporting to the Executive Director for Campus Inclusion and Community, the Director of Multicultural Student Affairs has overall leadership and management responsibility for the programs, services, facilities and staff of Multicultural Student Affairs. The Director serves as a resource and advocate for underrepresented students - especially for students whose ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation identities play a primary role in their university experience. Serving as a catalyst for the development and implementation of educational, social, and leadership programs promoting self- awareness, intercultural development and social justice, the Director will reimagine the area of Multicultural Student Affairs.
The Director of MSA will be responsible for (a) helping to create and sustain a sophisticated and exciting new vision for the office, (b) designing and implementing impactful programming that serves the primary constituencies as well as the larger campus community, and (c) manage the administrative functions of Multicultural Student Affairs, including budgetary oversight, management of staff (including student employees) supervision , oversight of department facilities, and university-wide community service.

Effectively lead and manage Multicultural Student Affairs by:
Contributing to the vision, mission, and goals of the division to guide program development and service delivery for students.
Assessing student needs/ interests and designing programs, services and partnerships to address those needs within MSA and/or across the division of Student Affairs.
Evaluating program performance with emphasis on continuous improvement; defining key learning outcomes.
Prepare and oversee MSA and unit budgets. Allocate resources in accordance with strategic and operational objectives.
Responsible for the overall supervision and management of five professional staff, two administrative staff, four Graduate Assistants, and student staff.
Overseeing the management of three facilities: 1914 Sheridan, 1936 Sheridan, and the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.
Serve as a member of the Student Engagement Leadership Team in the Division of Student Affairs and as a key contributor on matters of intersectionality, equity and access, and leadership development.
Advocate for students of color and LGBTQIA students, inclusiveness and community building by:
Designing and sponsoring programs and events that engage communities of difference in ways that enhance student learning and advance multicultural and intercultural understanding.
Collaborating with other university programs, offices and services on matters pertaining to student inclusiveness and diversity.
Creating a framework, in active collaboration with staff and students, that supports the work and the constituency of each of the units within MSA while providing opportunities for cross-cultural engagement, learning and community building.
Engage in outreach activities with student groups and organizations. Meet with students to build relationships and to acquire an accurate understanding of student experiences, concerns, and needs. Communicate with constituent groups and key stakeholders about the needs of students, the work of MSA and issues related to inclusion and diversity.
Represent Multicultural Student Affairs and its units to the broader university community and engage faculty and staff with our underrepresented student community. Serve as an advocate for the needs and concerns of underrepresented students. Represent MSA at Division of Student Affairs and University meetings and events as appropriate.

Collaborating with Student Affairs colleagues and others in defining and promulgating student learning outcomes.
Providing leadership in advancing the assessment of student learning outcomes for Multicultural Student Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs
Align MSA unit objectives with Division of Student Affairs, Campus Inclusion and Community and institutional priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree required, doctorate preferred, in higher educations administration, gender studies, student affairs, counseling, education or a related field.
Five to seven years of senior level administrative experience building and advancing institutional diversity and inclusion initiatives for students, staff or faculty.
Significant experience in supervising, developing and coaching professional staff and students
Experience working with faculty.
Assessment and program evaluation experience.
Experience developing learning outcomes, implementing high impact practices, and creating data driven intercultural programs and initiatives.
Experience collaborating within units and across university systems.
