Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEOversee all day-to-day operations of the Clinical Skills Center (CSC). Manage program staff, budget, and promotion/marketing of CSC programs throughout the WSU-SOM medical educational community. The position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer for the Office of the Vice Dean of Education and works daily with the Assistant Director of Clinical Evaluation to fulfill the mission of the center.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManage CSC staff. Hire, discipline, evaluate and provide training for assigned personnel to optimized operational efficiencies. Work with Assistant Director of Clinical Evaluation (ADCE) and Chief Administrative Officer to develop and implement policies and procedures for the CSC.Oversee day to day operational activities. Evaluate operations, schedule simulation activities, ensure appropriate space and staffing allocations for all CSC obligations and provide for faculty training.Develop, monitor and report on budgetary functions of the CSC. Prepare center budget and monitor and approve expenditures. Provide leadership in the development of all marketing efforts, including center website, brochures, flyers, etc. Work with University marketing to promote the CSC.Ensure education and training records are accurate and are available for accreditation surveys. Prepare annual activity reports for senior administration. Work with academic administration on institutional accreditation.Oversee use of all equipment and consumables and ensure adequate levels of same. Responsible for negotiating and maintaining equipment warranties and maintenance contracts.Negotiate and develop contracts with external clients. Monitor compliance and address related issues.Ensure that operations in the CSC are aligned and consistent with user expectations. Develop surveys to measure customer satisfaction and program quality.Maintain professional skills and refine expertise through appropriate educational/developmental activities and professional affiliations. Remain current with national and international advances in simulation and clinical skills operations activities.Represent the CSC at local and national conferences. Actively participate in professional organizations and present work to same. Serve on SOM committees representing the skill center operations. Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in business, health administration or other related field. Masters degree preferred.EXPERIENCEMinimum of five years experience in operations, management, or other key administrative role in a medical educational environment.Preferred experience with running operations in a clinical skills center or medical simulation environment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESSUPERVISORY SKILLS - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train staff and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among staff members.TECHNOLOGY SKILLS - Proficient in Access, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Project . Must possess an understanding of the functionality of equipment used in the CSC, including management software (B-Line) and simulation equipmentPROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS - Ability to prepare and present special projects with little or no supervision/oversight. Ability to meet deadlines.COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS - Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. ANALYTICAL SKILLS - Ability to evaluate, interprets, and presents complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations. Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail in order to achieve a high degree of accuracy.PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION SKILLS - Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Refined organizational and time-management skills.
