The Department of English at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in rhetoric and composition at the rank of assistant or associate professor to start July 1, 2018, pending final administrative and budgetary approval. We seek a faculty member committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and academic service. The successful candidate will maintain an active research program and teach a 3/3 course load at the undergraduate and graduate levels with the opportunity to build the program and develop additional courses in areas of special need or interest.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition or directly related field, evidence of at least two years of successful teaching, scholarly publication or promise, and an interest in writing program administration and assessment are required. We are seeking candidates specializing in contemporary rhetorics of resistance, especially critical rhetorics of race. In addition to teaching established undergraduate and graduate courses in rhetoric and composition and critical theory, we seek a candidate looking to develop courses in their area of specialization.
