TheUniversity of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive CancerCenter (UMGCCC) is seeking an Academic Services Specialist to coordinate the UMB CURE (Continuing theUmbrella for Research Experiences) High School Program and to assist with thepreparation and submission of the SEPA (Science Education Partnership Award)grant as well as other small local grants. The UMB CURE Program seeks toprepare sixth- to 12th-grade students in Baltimore for competitive,lucrative, and rewarding research and health care careers.

Uses data analysis andprogram evaluation expertise to submit additional UMB CURE grants.
Arranges high schoolinternship supervision by assignment of faculty/preceptor.
Schedules academicprogram plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations;oversees daily operations and coordinators activities of the UMB CURE HighSchool program.
Advises students andprovides technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers questions andprovides policy interpretation.
Enhances studentexperience by arranging extracurricular seminars, study sessions, or workshops.Develop, compile, and write program coursework communications and promotionalliterature for distribution, such as newsletters, brochures, flyers.
Prepares periodicreports and records on academic program activities, progress, status, or otherspecial reports for management or outside agencies. Evaluates programeffectiveness to recommend improved methods.
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of administration of a program, preferably inhigher education or healthcare setting.

Maintainsproductivity and uses knowledge strategies to increase knowledge base. Abilityto negotiate contracts and determine the liability of changes to the sitecontracts.
Abilityto effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Interpretsand understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbaland non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
Abilityto maintain confidentiality of subjects and information obtained.
Abilityto work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical,respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Capable ofinteracting pleasantly and positively with other to meet customer expectations,and provide follow up with customers.
