University of Maryland Baltimore, theMaryland Poison Center under the School of Pharmacy has an opportunityavailable for a Statistician. This position isresponsible for analyzing Maryland Poison Center (MPC) data and other datasources. Conducts technical statistical research and analysis and compiles andinterprets statistical records and reports of MPC data. Interacts with a wide range of users to meetthe needs of the program, department and school.

Determinesappropriate methods of statistical analysis and applies techniques to determinemeans of measurement/assessment.
Providesexpert advice in development of appropriate research methods.
Compilesand analyzes data, interpreting trends, fluctuations, and other changes.
Preparesreports, graphs, charts and provides oral presentations.
Workswith MPC to develop best practices and methods in data collection, warehousing,analysis, and reporting, including developing special forms/formats foranalyzing and presenting data.
Workswith students, residents, fellows and faculty to develop appropriate researchstrategies.
Assistsin development analytic capabilities for the Maryland Poison Center using commonstatistical packages (SAS, STATA, R, MATLAB, etc).
Otherduties as assigned.
Education/Experience: Master's degreestatistics or mathematics and two (2) years of statistical analysis experienceanalyzing studies using a range of statistical techniques in a relatedenvironment.
Master's degreeepidemiology or public health and three (3) years of statistical analysisexperience analyzing studies using a range of statistical techniques in arelated environment.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Abilityto work independently. Abilityto collaborate with MPC faculty, staff, fellows, and other members of the team. Abilityto communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Musthave solid technical writing skills.
Abilityto assume responsibility for multiple projects. Abilityto design research studies and data collection procedures. Abilityto understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology in both oral andwritten communications in a multidisciplinary environment. Skilledin measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgements. Skilledin used of Microsoft Office software for communication and dissemination ofproject deliverables. Excellentcommunication and project management skills. Providementoring to those with less statistics/study design background.
Hiring Range: High $70K to Mid $80K - Commensurate with education and experience
