Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking an Administrative Manager for the Department of Surgery.
Partner with Service Chiefs to identify, create, develop, and implement short and long term strategic program planning, service development, operational workflows, and process improvement as approved by the Administrator.
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations and financial management of 4-7 Services within the Department of Surgery
Work with Service Chiefs to identify new recruits and lead onboarding of all new faculty
Manage and direct the functions and activities of administrative coordinators in assigned services
Guide administrative and medical support to ensure efficient and effective operations and optimal patient care.
Partner with marketing and patient access services to monitor and develop physician practices while measuring effectiveness
Measure, monitor, and track operational data to manage individual service and practice growth and development
Collaborate with counterparts in Ambulatory Administration and throughout the institution for overall planning and operations of surgeons' clinical practices
Support operational and capital budget development and ongoing expense monitoring.
Manage space planning and allocations with appropriate staff
Assist with special projects and other job-related activities as assigned by the Administrator, Service Chiefs, Vice Chairs and Chairman including system implementation and special operational improvement project initiatives
Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training of new clerical and management employees, as well as the ongoing training and development of existing employees.

Bachelor's degree with a major preferably in Management, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration required. Masters degree preferred.
At least 5 years of management experience.
Effective communication, both written and verbal.

Experience in developing and managing academic practices is preferred
Information management skills to communicate, explain, interpret, share, and/or present information to employees and management staff at MSKCC and appropriate external contacts.
Computer skills required include spreadsheet, graphics, word processing.
Excellent communication skills required as responsibilities include developing and giving presentations.
