Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Budget & Financial Planning, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with the development of financial management reports and reporting tools for the School and departments. S/He will play a key reporting role and provide a wide range of reporting support and analyses for the finance team and the departments throughout the year. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with the Director and Chief Financial Officer to create and update the School's strategic plan and annual budget as well as monitor and analyze the budget on a routine basis. The incumbent will monitor and coordinate expenditures for the School's accounts and manage the day-to-day financial activities in the Dean's office. In this capacity, the incumbent will develop reports and maintain reports for the Dean's office; reconcile University financial statements for specific Dean's office departments (including unrestricted projects, gifts, endowments and sponsored programs) against internal ledgers; summarize and update operating budgets and estimates, and provide guidance on best practices for spending and budgeting expenses. The incumbent will also help with business process redesign to standardize budget and reporting policies and procedures that promote adherence to University and School policies. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist the finance team during monthly, quarterly and annual close by processing financial entries such internal and general journals, generating and updating various reports, and follow up with key stakeholders and partners within the School and across the University. S/He will perform other related duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 3-5 years related financial experience required.
Excellent computer skills with extensive knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel) required including pivot tables. Knowledge of access is preferred. Ability to work with and manipulate large data sets is required.
Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy is essential; ability to manage multiple priorities with poise and discretion in a fast paced environment is required.
Must be a team player and yet be able to function independently and interact well with faculty, staff and university officers.
Experience with the university's reporting (FDS, PAC), budget tool and procurement electronic systems, (purchasing, accounts payable, payroll) and database strongly desirable.
