Offsite Library Collections Assistant (part-time), University Libraries-2007052
Carnegie Mellon University Libraries seeks an individual for a part-time position within the Access Services Department. In this position, you will be responsible for processing and expediting delivery between our offsite storage facility and the University Libraries here on campus. You will be expected to troubleshoot requests, delivery and assorted facility problems.
We are looking for someone to work independently but also as part of a team. You will also monitor facility conditions to spot any facility issues needing attention. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. In addition, we seek someone with high attention to detail, demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to learn library functions and the use of systems.
Your responsibilities include:
The daily operation of the 2-story offsite storage facility located at 6555 Penn Avenue
Expedite/facilitate the daily delivery and receipt of material transferring to and from campus library facilities
Pulling material requested by users and properly labeling material for delivery to campus
Process and send ILLiad & EZ Borrow requests from offsite facility directly to borrowing institution
Re-shelve material returned to facility
Process library material that has been sent to facility
Pull and scan articles for ILLiad requests
Review reports daily
Shelf read material to verify proper shelving of books
Find and troubleshoot 'problem' requests.
This is a part-time position with an expected weekly schedule of 20-25 hours per week. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
At least one year or more of customer service skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.) or similar software
Previous work in a library circulation or access services department preferred
