DAVIDSON COLLEGE, a private liberal arts college located 20 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina, invites applications for a full-time Technical Director/Lecturer in its Department of Theatre. Duties include teaching one course per year in area of expertise; serving as the TD for 3-5 departmental productions per year; overseeing the scheduling, supervision and training of 6-10 work-study students and other student production crews; budgeting all scenic elements of productions and facilities maintenance; overseeing the work of the Assistant Technical Director in managing the scene shop; creating technical drawings; supervising construction and load-in; maintaining equipment, inventories and facilities; designing or supervising scenery, lighting and/or sound for 2-4 productions and class projects; providing input on play selection and budgeting.
Salary highly competitive. Requirements: MFA in appropriate discipline, or equivalent experience; at least two years of technical theatre experience; strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills; lighting design experience, working knowledge of sound and projection design; master carpentry and rigging skills; demonstrated proficiency with CAD drafting and other design software; basic welding skills. Digital media skills, including projection design and mapping, are a plus. Supervisory experience required; experience in an educational setting preferred.

Davidson College has a state-of-the-art 600 seat theatre (Duke Family Performance Hall built in 2001; 39 flies and an automated pit/thrust). The Cunningham Theatre Center (renovated in 2010) has a 150-seat flexible performance space equipped with state of the art lighting and digital sound equipment. Production facilities include a 2500+ sq. ft. fully equipped scene shop/assembly area, including CNC table router and metal working equipment.
