St. Catherine University, Minneapolis campus, invites applications for an Associate Director of Global Studies. This position is a 0.6 FTE holding and benefit eligible position. The Associate Director provides operational leadership for study abroad at St. Catherine University and will have two primary areas of responsibility: short-term faculty-led programming and the daily operation of the Office of Global Studies. The successful candidate must be able to interact effectively with faculty, administrators, staff and students for purposes of planning, creating, promoting, and evaluating study abroad and exchange programs and assisting the Director in the daily administration of the office and acting as director when she is absent. Additionally, the Associate Director will support the Director in the development of the strategic vision and mission of internationalization at the University primarily through the design and implementation of a campus-wide Internationalization plan.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Collaborate with faculty for course budgets and third party providers to develop contract for services provided.
Supervise Program Specialist and oversee TDS website; E*Value data entry and scanning documents into E*Value
Work closely with Program Specialist to process payments to logistics providers for short-term courses.
Provide cost estimates for SCU faculty-led programs to Financial Aid.
Work with Program Specialist to manage and oversee the application process for all short-term courses/programs
Meet with faculty pre-departure and assist with pre-departure faculty orientation.
Debrief experience abroad with faculty upon return and manage expense reporting process.
Manage the evaluation and assessment process for courses.
Review student packets and data; reconcile files for completion; collaborate with Orbis on student documentation
Record and file communication/management, including background checks, CPR and immunization holds/clearance
Work with advisors to recruit, advise, prepare, and support qualified students for studying abroad
Supervise student workers, maintain the Global Studies web site, oversee the study abroad database (Terra Dotta).
Assist Director in creating Faculty-development workshops and training to teach and lead study abroad courses.
Serve as a primary contact for emergency situations and work with Director to develop appropriate risk management practices and policies; Serve as the initial contact person for study abroad programs and options.
Serve as office representation to various on and off campus meetings, including Admissions and Retention events.
In collaboration with the Director, provide support by co-representing the Office of Global Studies and serving on the Internationalization Council and various subcommittees or task forces resulting from Council directives.
Assist Director in leading the efforts to build, support, and nurture relationships with St. Catherine University’s international partners.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience in higher education and working with faculty on short-term courses abroad required.
Experience with Terra Dotta software; familiarity with accounting procedures and processes,
Knowledge of study abroad programs required, international experience (studying, living or working abroad) and/or proficiency in a second language preferred.
Excellent customer service and commitment to Departmental and campus Diversity and Inclusion initiatives necessary
Experience with electronic distance delivery systems including web maintenance and design, podcasts, webinars, on-line and distance learning and electronic survey tools
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced office
Familiarity with intercultural development theories and dedication to fostering growth in related skills and competencies.
