Maine Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a Clinician in Portland. The Clinician has comprehensive clinical responsibility for the clients assigned to him/her. All services will be provided in a manner and language appropriate to the age and comprehensive level of the clients and their families. The Clinician is expected to function as an active team member.
Conduct and documenting individual and family psychosocial assessments.
Document the findings of evaluations and progress in clients’ medical record.
Assess client’s family system and provide treatment based on psychosocial evaluations.
Conducting and documenting family and/or couples treatment of clients and their families
Maintain contact with community resources for after care and providing comprehensive discharge planning services.
Identify and put into practice the elements of a therapeutic relationship and appropriate boundaries in his/her work with clients.
Identify and use therapeutic interventions appropriate to diagnosis.
Work in a supportive, cooperative, nonjudgmental way with clients and family/guardians.
Provide client and family education concerning client rights and responsibilities.
Build resources within family units and help to locate effective support for family members within their communities.
Work effectively with the program staff to implement the Clinical Philosophy.
Participate as indicated in PI activities and maintain quality standards for utilization review.
Manage caseload to ensure that all services and contacts are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
Manage relationships and information reporting to DHHS, OCFS and other regulatory bodies as appropriate per individual client services.
Ensure clinical notes providing diagnosis, treatment goals and approach, progress towards goals and discharge criteria are clearly documented.
Maintain the standards Confidentiality, Corporate Compliance and HIPAA regulator policies as they relate to patients, residents, organizational operations, and employees.
Maintain knowledge of Safety Protocols and/or Emergency Code System and responds appropriately.
Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Maine State licensure to practice as a LCSW, LMSW or LCPC.
Maine State licensure to practice as a LADC and CADC as needed.
2+ years of related work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred; depending on client population to be serviced, desired work experience may vary.
Prior experience with clinical methods and techniques used in individual, family and group therapy as related to mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
Knowledge of social work/counseling theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare.
Demonstrate a high level of understanding of psychosocial factors and their impact on client functioning.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel as well as specific agency/department record software.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation if applicable.
