The Office Assistant/Receptionist is responsible for responding to various inquiries received in person, via telephone and through email. The Office Assistant provides informative answers to basic questions and also refers inquiries to others in the OIP as needed. This position also assists the Director, Associate Directors, and study abroad advising team and provides general administrative support for department operations - including advertising OIP events, booking rooms, scheduling meetings, and processing paperwork for Brown credit approval and transfer.
Minimum of a high school diploma/degree
2-3 years experience in a busy office. Prior experience at a college/university preferred.
Must be accurate, detailed, task oriented, organized, and reliable.
Flexibility and ability to multitask and change priorities quickly.
Proper telephone etiquette and comfort with use of multi-line phone system.
Ability to properly handle confidential information.
Must be very comfortable with computers and have knowledge of databases and word processing. Preference given for experience with Horizons or similar database and Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working with a wide variety of people from many cultures. Patients with young adults/students a must.
Ability to work on a team
