Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Associate.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for supporting the Administrative Manager/Supervisor in the daily operations of the administrative office and laboratory. Accurately entering data into logs, transcribing and editing pathology and consultation reports. Liaison with medical practices. Cross covering other associates as needed.
Type and print coded pathology reports and check reports typed by other staff.
Transcribe non-coded reports.
Organize and lay out slides delivered from lab for drying and filing.
File copy of reports and request forms in numerical order.
Sort and package reports for mailing.
Obtain prior biopsies from outside labs. Pull prior biopsy slides and reports from file. Match prior biopsy with new case when received from lab.
Match special stains and deepers with new cases when received from lab
Inventory and ordering of FEDEX supplies.
Enter data from biopsy request forms into computer for specimens received in lab.
Maintain cancer registry log.
Maintain infection-control log.
Check data entry logs for errors make corrections and print slide labels.
Ensure that all data entry logs and slide labels prepared for the lab are returned in a timely fashion.
Train on use and maintenance of scanners used for archiving.
Maintain logs of documents scanned and checked.
Train staff on scanning procedures for pathology reports and consultations.
Log in slides received in consultation.
Fax deeper lists to lab at specified times and scan copies of lists on monthly basis for archiving.
Obtain other material related to consultations such as slides and reports from other labs.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have an Associates Degree. Minimum of 1 Year of related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective Oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.Computer Skills Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point and Access. Ability to develop basic formulae for spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software. Ability to proofread documents and write clear, concise 1st draft. Ability to type at a speed of at least 45 net words per minutes.Knowledge of standard office practices. Ability to multi-task while paying attention to details.Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Associates degree in a related field with 2 to 3 years of related experience in an office setting is preferred.
