Business Application and Integration Services (BAIS) is seeking a highly motivated Lead Integration Engineer interested in using evolving technologies to solve business problems within a dynamic technical environment. The Lead Integration Engineer will design and support integration orchestration architecture to enable data-driven productivity, improve constituent experience, and promote application ecosystem integrity. The role works with application and cloud architects and developers, business partners, and external vendors to design integration orchestration processes, to promote compliance with integration architecture designs, and to advance the data needs and utilization of VT. The Lead Integration Engineer brings to the position an understanding of application and data integration coupled with broad knowledge of modern software development and data analytics and a commitment to innovative solutions for enterprise integration challenges.
BAIS is a unit within the Division of IT Enterprise Systems at Virginia Tech.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience with a major integration platform (e.g. MuleSoft, Talend ESB, JBoss Fuse)
Experience with integration and transformation processes and technologies (e.g. ETL, EDI, XML)
In depth knowledge of data management systems, processes and procedures – how to acquire, understand, control and distribute data and information
Experience with data repository methodologies such as data lakes
Strong relational database knowledge
Experience in one or more modern object-oriented programming languages
Experience leading and successfully delivering complex initiatives, meeting quality and time expectations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience using Scrum or Kanban project management
Demonstrated experience with REST-based APIs and web services
Demonstrated experience with data repository methodologies such as data lakes
Experience developing and documenting business requirements, design specifications, use cases, or test cases
Experience with business processes and applications supporting higher education
Experience with SQL
Experience with NOSQL database technologies
Experience with Java or JVM application frameworks
Experience with JSON or XML
Experience leading one or more development teams
