The University of Wisconsin La Crosse is accepting applications to fill the position of First Year Experience Coordinator.
The University of Wisconsin La Crosse (UWL) seeks a First Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator who is student centered and highly motivated to coordinate orientation programs and lead first-year initiatives that will enhance student transitions to UWL. We are seeking an individual who values diversity and who will lead the campus in examining, informing, cultivating, facilitating, and enhancing the first-year experience for all undergraduate transfer and first-year students. This position works collaboratively with Academic Affairs, faculty, the Division of Enrollment Management, and the Division of Student Life. The FYE Coordinator will be responsible for building a holistic first-year experience, from registration to completion of the first year, through evidence-based programming, strategic planning, and policy review.
Utilizing a knowledge of best practices and research in student development, higher education and transition theory approaches, this individual will partner with campus offices to design, implement and evaluate Student Advising Registration and Transition (START), New Student Orientation, and Family Weekend. By working with students, campus partners, and families, this individual will develop effective messages and strategies to improve student learning and adjustment to the college lifecycle. This position will be responsible for supervising a team of student leaders (Eagle Guides) who lead group activities and cultivate bonds with incoming students.

Master’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, education administration, student personnel administration or related area.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated commitment for diversity, equity & inclusivity.
Understanding of college student development.
Understanding of a University structure and business operations.
Understanding of effective retention tools and communication technologies for first year students.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external constituent groups.
Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
This is a full time, 12 month position, which includes a State of Wisconsin benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
