Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer to provide support to the IT Manager of Web Consulting Services (WCS) .This position is responsible for analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, documentation and maintenance of new features and functionality, establishing and guiding the website's architecture, ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS development platform. The focus of work involves developing enterprise Drupal Web CMS architecture and optimization, maintenance and Content Management System administration. Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Works with various business and technology teams on identifying business requirements and translating them to software features and requirements.
Identifies and suggests business and systems solutions to problems and prepares preliminary cost estimates.
Designs and develops application program from analysis to implementation.
Develops and applies integrated application, system, or network standards as required.
Understands and follows industry technology trends.
Keeps abreast of the latest technologies and considers how they may be used to solve challenges in Enterprise Application Services.
Participates in change management and release management activities.
Identifies and reports risks, issues, and dependencies of assigned tasks/projects.
Participates in the test planning and perform testing activities as needed (including unit, integration, performance and user acceptance testing).
Monitors and performs regular site maintenance activities and performs technical resources planning and support.
Writes and updates requirements, design and user guide documentation to describe systems and access abilities, as required.
Performs various other tasks and duties as assigned to support the leadership team.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent education and experience with five or more years of relevant work experience in an analytical and programming environment with an emphasis on enterprise Drupal/WordPress CMS development platform.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience developing enterprise Drupal Web CMS Architecture and Optimization
Experience configuring and working with the Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP) stack
Full stack Drupal development experience with focus on custom module development, working with contributed modules, and knowledge of core API
Ability to architect enterprise Drupal solutions including data, display, and information architecture
Advanced site-building experience including deep familiarity with Drupal modules such as CTools, Views, Panels, Features and Context
Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
Knowledge of PHP, PHP files and theme functions, and knowledge of the Drupal Theme Layer development (Bootstrap, Omega)
Expert in Drupal 7 and Drupal 8
Experience working with Drush
Experience integrating open source and third-party applications into existing systems
Experience working with APIs, integrating with external web services including SOAP, REST, XML or JSON
Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (e.g. Requirements, Design, Development, Testing) and exposure to Agile or iterative SDLCs.
Familiar with Git workflow creation/management
Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firefox and Chrome Developer Tools, etc.
