Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Research Intern.
In this role, the successful candidate The Student Research Intern will report directly to the Research Program Manager of the Pancreatic Cancer Center to contribute to the development of the Pancreatic Database and Biorepository. The candidate will provide support by consenting patients, ensuring that patient samples are collected and properly stored, entering patient information in the database, and escorting patients to medical procedure appointments.
Assists with the informed consent process with patients in multiple clinics to ensure that patients fully understand what is required of them throughout the study.
Coordinates sample collection across several clinics, including courier transport and delivery of specimen to the laboratory.
Enters patient information in the pancreatic cancer database.
Escorts patients to various medical procedure appointments.
Administers questionnaires for patients to complete. Provides specimen collection kits.
Educates patients regarding research study and research sample collection.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a must be a full-time undergraduate college student. This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Great attention to detail; A self-starter, able to use own initiative and anticipate problems Must possess a hands-on and a can do attitude with good problem solving skills Confident and with some experience of project management and administration Good interpersonal and written communication skills Strong planning and organizational skills Excellent task and time management Ability to work in a team environment Ability to prioritize own workload and meet deadlines Ability to liaise with and gain the trust and respect of a wide range of people at all levels Ability to show tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information A flexible approach, prepared to work on tasks and projects at a wide range of levels, including data entry when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with patient interaction and data entry preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
