In coordination with, and direction from the Director, the Associate Director drives the execution of strategy and ensures the day-to-day operations, goals and responsibilities of the department are met. This role is instrumental in helping the department drive initiatives that support Renew My Church and Archdiocesan key priorities.
In close collaboration with the Director, the Associate director helps manage staff, programs and budgets. Matrix reporting relationships include the Director of Evangelization, Director of Lifelong Formation, Director of Human Dignity and Solidary, Director of the Office of Divine Worship, the Director of Missions and the Chief of Administrative Staff.
The Associate director develops and sustains productive relationships, and ongoing coordination and communication amongst the various department agencies and with the Vicariate leadership teams, Pastors, Pastoral Center offices, and other stakeholders.
The Associate Director may collaborate with national organizations, and the USCCB, to ensure the execution of best practices and programs that drive pastoral vitality across the Archdiocese.
Duties and Responsibilities
*Monitors and ensures the successful execution of department programs.
*In concert with the Finance team, ensures effective budget management.
*Provides strategic and planning assistance to the department directors.
*Develops relationships with the Pastor Center, Vicariate teams, Pastors and all stakeholders and works to ensure an effective flow of information and leveraging of ideas and resources.
*Coordinates with the Renew My Church team to ensure successful execution of department objectives related to Renew My Church.
*In a matrix reporting relationship, works closely with each of the department directors to ensure objectives are met and that each agency’s staff is effectively managed and issues are satisfactorily resolved.
*Serves as a coach for others on the team and is considered credible with an acknowledged expertise in their field and able to offer high value insights.
*Maintains a focus on delivery and motivates others to reach goals,
*Ensures compliance of all stakeholders with Archdiocesan policies and regulations.
*Increases skills and knowledge through continuing education, attending conferences and reading appropriate literature.
*May be given other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level of this position.
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferablyin Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Studies of Business Administration
At least four years of management experience in active ministry with a preference for proven leadership/management experience in the field of ministry and advocacy.
Strong managerial skills with a proven track record developing others.
Fully committed to the Catholic Church’s teaching on the Gospel of Life.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people from varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong project management skills.
Culturally and politically astute; understands implicit and explicit decision making processes.
Strong read of people and situations; able to ascertain needs and match resources
Comfortable acting as a catalyst and change agent for defining future strategies and goals.
Focuses on delivery and motivating others to reach ambitious goals.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
Working knowledge of communications strategies, social media techniques, and online training.
Conversational Spanish language skills preferred
Must be an excellent communicator; detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Must have excellent relationship building and influence skills.
Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values,
Availability for overtime, evening or weekend work.
