The Administrative Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the continuous, effective operation, ongoing assessment, and continual improvement of service activities and the integration of the services into the overall functioning of the organization.
Provides overall leadership, management, and direction of surgical services including Operating Room, PACU, Same Day Surgery, Wound Care, GI, Sterile Processing Department, and Cardiovascular Services [12 OR Suites / 5 Cath Lab Rooms / 70+ FTEs / 300- 400 surgeries each month]
Participates in planning, policy development, priority setting, and providing visionary thinking on issues that affect Surgical Services
Identifies ideas, actions, and processes to improve quality, reduce risk, and maintain patient safety
Selects and hires high performing staff members; provides oversight, leadership, and mentoring
Ensure that Surgical Services complies with all healthcare regulations, nursing regulations, TJC, and hospital policy and procedures
Builds and maintains trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, ancillary services, physicians, and vendors; interacts with all customers in a pleasant respectful manner
Effectively utilizes data base management, decision support, and expert system programs to assess information and analyzes data from disparate sources for use in planning for patient care processes and systems
Identifies ideas and actions to grow patient volumes, and works collaboratively with physicians and other departments to improve services
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of nursing care for patients
Directs and coordinates patient care services
Assures compliance for all regulatory agency standards

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nursing or currently pursuing Master’s Degree, business or other health care field preferred, or commitment to achieve Master’s Degree within 48 months of hire
Previous experience as a manager including 2 years of line management experience required
5 years of experience in a senior leadership position in a hospital or healthcare facility required
Current Ohio license as a Registered Nurse by the Ohio Board of Nursing required
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, financial reports, and legal documents required
Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and work with graphics required
