The Vice President, Population Health will guide the operational performance improvement for the payer-based risk pools. The Vice President will also oversee the continuous improvement of medical management and the effective implementation of operational and programmatic interventions designed to support resource stewardship efforts. This motivated and driven leader will contribute at an executive level on key issues facing the organization and will recognize the critical linkage between efforts to improve quality, reduce risk, and reduce unnecessary and preventable resource expenditures. The Vice President will have oversight for 100 FTEs and manage a budget of $13 million.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Seven or more years of progressively more responsible experience in risk management, utilization management, or managed care in a hospital or health system, medical group, insurance company or a consulting firm specializing in population health management is expected.
Master’s Degree in finance, business, or health care administration is required.
Clinical experience as an RN, NP or behavioral health clinician is highly desired.
Experience in managing complex matrix organizations in healthcare.
Expertise in all aspects of resource utilization, including strong working knowledge of concurrent review processes and appropriate review criteria.
Experience in integrated health care management required, with formal training in clinical performance improvement preferred.
Understanding and experience in managed care contracting, with an emphasis on full risk capitation and related financial underpinnings / funds flow.
Should also be fully familiar with all major models of proactive care management including formal disease management and predictive modelling.
