Under general supervision of the Technical Director, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Film and Digital Media classroom installed media, general facility maintenance, supporting facility security, and special project support. This position will also provide backup assistance in the equipment checkout lab as needed.
Duties include general technical support for the classroom media systems. This support entails the technical and physical upkeep of the rooms and the presentation equipment within. Duties will also include clerical functions, such as, inventory and record keeping. The assistant will also directly interact with student and faculty clientele as related to facilities and technical operations and within the scope of the position. The assistant will also direct and oversee student workers in a limited fashion.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Ability to perform essential physical job functions such as to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs.
The ability to move materials weighing up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend shifts.
Per the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter. The selected candidate will be required to report known or suspected child abuse or neglect as defined by CANRA and will be required to sign a Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse prior to commencing employment.
Demonstrated proficiency in database, spreadsheet, email, word processing, internet, and desktop publishing/web applications. Ability and willingness to learn new applications and information processing techniques.
Strong customer-oriented skills and demonstrated experience and ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of faculty, staff, students.
Current information management knowledge and experience with ability to organize, collect, analyze and report a variety of data in written, verbal and electronic formats.
Experience working with media playback equipment including VHS, Laserdisc, BluRay, and audio cassette tape decks, projection systems, and other accessories.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) to understand and disseminate information in a clear, accurate, concise and effective manner.
