A Critical Access Hospital in south central Wisconsin (approximately an hour and a half from Madison, WI). The hospital maintains high scores in patient satisfaction (57% of services in the 90TH percentile for HCHAPS) and employee engagement (over the 90th percentile) and have a well below average turnover rate. The Surgery department has been run by a dedicated leader for the past decade who has maintained strong Physician / Nursing relations. The Director will report to the COO/CNO, a strong mentor and coach. The position is available due to a promotion as the current Director has been promoted within the network.
Brief Job Description
Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care of 3 surgical suites, and 1 Endoscopy suite with a total of approximately 1,100 annual procedures.
Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships and rapport with physicians, other department leaders, staff (15 FTE’s) and peers.
Provides leadership, training and staff mentoring to build relationships and foster a strong team environment
Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and environmental and infection control standards.
Implements organizational goals; educates and mentors surgical staff, to guarantee delivery of patient services, customer service and high quality outcomes.

Critical thinking skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nursing Leadership required, but will consider strong charge experience.
At least five years of OR/acute care nursing experience; two years in a supervisory role.
