The "Population-based online study of the transition of young adults with perinatal HIV infection to adult clinical care" is an NIH-funded study investigating the barriers to transitioning from pediatric to adult HIV care among adolescents and young adults in Massachusetts. It is recognized that this transition is challenging, yet there is a dearth of information available to HIV care providers to inform their practices in this area. This study will expand upon existing research to explore the barriers and facilitators that directly affect whether adolescents are able to successfully transition from pediatric/adolescent to adult HIV care. We will also pilot a unique recruitment model involving a partnership between Harvard Chan, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and MA pediatric HIV care providers.
