The Department of Literature within the Division of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego (http://literature.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. Pending budgetary approval, one or more non tenure-track lectureships are expected to be available in 2017-18 academic year. It is preferred that applicants have experience teaching large undergraduate survey lecture courses. It is preferred that applicants also have experience supervising graduate students as teaching assistants. All Literature courses will be considered and based on department needs. Salary and level of appointment are based on qualifications and UC pay scale. Proof of authorization to work in the U. S. will be required prior to employment (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1985).
Ph.D. or ABD in American Literature or closely related field such as American Studies or Ethnic studies with expertise in African-American literature and outstanding teaching experience. Graduate students who have ABD standing in the UC San Diego Literature department are ineligible to apply.
