Our Student Affairs Department, has an outstanding opportunity for a Career and Internship Specialist
Advise students in defining career options, exploring academic majors, identifying application procedures and strategies, conducting job and internship searches, developing and refining resume writing, interviewing, networking and job search skills.
As part of the Career Services team, recruit, hire, train and supervise career peer advisors to assist in the direct services to students.
Partner with student affairs, academic programs and employer relations to integrate Career Services broadly into students' experience including classroom presentations and skill development workshops that include resume preparation, job search strategies, interviewing skills, networking and applying to graduate school. Partner with other Student Affairs offices to develop student's co-curricular experience including leadership development and other career topics.
Build relationships and develop job/internship opportunities with employers, alumni, and community partners.
Assist with Career Services activities, events; administrative responsibilities; other duties as assigned.
Keep abreast of market trends and stakeholder interests; collect, evaluate, assess and report data related to program and program goals. Recommend and implement program modifications based on results.
Represent at Career Services, Student Affairs, Student Success Center, and Academic Department meetings and events.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Health or STEM related field preferable.
2+ years related experience in career counseling, advising, recruiting, student services or human resources.
Proven ability to function as a motivated, enthusiastic member of a team committed to providing excellent customer service.
Demonstrated commitment and experience working with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff in a positive, realistic, and effective manner.
Excellent organizational and group presentation skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Computer literacy including ability to develop web-based resources and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and PowerPoint.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Master's in Education, Student Development, STEM, Health Studies, or related field.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The Career and Internship Specialist is expected to attend major student activities and events held on campus and in the local community. The Career & Internship Specialist has regular and frequent contact with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. A work schedule that fluctuates due to after-hours activities, meetings, and events is common. Evening responsibilities are frequent and weekend hours occur occasionally.
