The Division of Research of Hoxworth Blood Center is searching for a highly motivated, detail oriented individual for our Research Laboratory. The candidate will assist in research projects in pre-clinical and clinical trials in transfusion medicine and cell therapies/stem cell biology.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform cell and molecular biology techniques, including PCR and RT-PCR.
Work closely with the laboratory technical staff, following laboratory procedures and assay protocols.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Document and report assay results. Complete required logs and supporting documents. Collect data as required by research protocol. Maintain records of laboratory inventory and place orders in order to keep the laboratory well stocked with supplies and reagents.
Attend and participate in project meetings, summarize results of experiments performed, assist in interpreting the results of studies.
Strong time management, organizational, effective problem solving, and multi-tasking skills are required.
Good communication and teamwork skills are required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Biology/Molecular Biology or other related field. Previous experience in molecular immunology/hematology, genotyping by PCR and flow cytometry analysis are desirable.
This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
