The Admissions Office at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Admissions Assistant. This position is responsible for entering admissions decisions, transfer credit, and other data into the Banner/STAR system. The Admissions Assistant will also maintain and generate letters to applicants, admitted students with conditions or missing documents, and coordinating the processing of transient forms.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Research appropriate college codes, enter data, and verify and transfer college information into Banner/STAR student information system.
Investigate and research student files to determine if information is correct and complete in the system.
Process applications and application fees for undergraduate admissions.
Assist in making sure catalog information is current and accurate on the Transfer Equivalency System.
Assist in investigating and researching incoming mail by accessing batches in the document imaging system.
Interpret Banner/STAR records to determine the appropriate location for the materials and record receipt of the material on the Banner/STAR system.
Scan student materials received by mail and review applications and determine if the file is complete and ready for evaluation.
Serve as a courteous, informative public relations representative of WVU.
Provide functional guidance and training to new staff, temporary employees, and student workers who perform administrative activities.
Assign and supervise work for work-study students for the Transfer Unit in absence of Admission Assistant III.
Pay Grade: 11
Up to 18 months of education/training beyond high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor's degree preferred
Six (6) months of experience required in the following:
Banner/STAR experience or equivalent database
Data entry and scanning
Professional communication and writing skills
Ability to calculate simple math problems
