Responsible for developing and fostering the University international relationships through engagement at the institutional, federal/national and international level.
Provide administrative management and oversight of all contractual international partnership agreements enacted by the University with entities abroad.
Develop processes and procedures to ensure that international initiatives operate within the compliance parameters set by University, State, and Federal policies.
Monitor all student mobility agreements to ensure proper balance; work proactively with campus units to remedy unbalanced exchanges.
Provide international protocol and related services to Chancellor, Provost, and deans traveling internationally. Facilitate the delivery of successful international meetings for the Chancellor, Provost and VPIAGS. Work closely with IIP team members, various campus stakeholders, institutional advancement, and institutional partners to prepare robust, detailed travel and meeting itineraries along with supporting documentation to help foster new and existing international relationships.
Responsible for research necessary to prepare Country Reports for outgoing delegations to showcase inter-institutional agreements, co-authorships and student information.
Collaborate actively with colleges, centers, and programs to facilitate global and international opportunities across campus.
Pursue external funding with appropriate domestic and international funding agencies and private corporations to support global engagement initiatives.
Collaborate with Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE), Global Education and Training (GET), International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and campus units to pursue activities that promote inbound and outbound student mobility, and training opportunities for global partners.
Oversee the ongoing development of a protocol databank to aid in tracking consular relationships along with incoming and outgoing visits.
Develop and maintain an interactive inventory of global engagement activities. Analyze and understand the overall partnerships portfolio of the University; provide information and data to support campus-level strategic initiatives. Liaise with a broad range of constituencies both in the U.S. and abroad, including University faculty and staff, representatives of partner institutions; state, federal international officials and agencies; the private sector; and, non-governmental organizations.
Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of institutional partnerships, including: numbers of students and faculty participating in partnership activities; increases in student diversity and inclusion of traditionally underserved demographic groups; and numbers of joint grant proposals, funded research awards, and publications.
Provide direction with regard to protocol of gift giving, flag placement, and consular communication Supervisory duties including hiring, delegating, training, evaluating academic hourly/student staff.
This position reports to the Executive Director for Administration and Management, IIP who reports to the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies, IIP who reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Experience in event planning and management.
Experience in or familiarity with higher education institutions.
Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills to effectively work with acumen and diplomacy in handling sensitive or difficult situations either independently or within a team environment.
Knowledge of development and coordination of education abroad, exchanges, international training, and mobility trends for incoming international students.
Familiarity with worldwide systems of higher education.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Abilities:
Experience preparing for and working with international visitors or delegations and visits abroad.
Experience with international contract management and understanding of business principals.
Project management experience to manage workflow processes and project delivery methods.
Grant/contract/agreement writing experience.
Demonstrated success in securing external funding.
