Job Description: The Assistant Coach of Men's and Women's Squash assists in all aspects of the intercollegiate Squash teams including practice and match logistics and other team events as appropriate.
Maintain effective and positive working relationships with student athletes, faculty, staff and prospective students. Remain accessible to students. Interact with other coaches, professional organizations, news media, alumni and parents professionally and respectfully. Represent the college in a mature, positive, and professional manner.
Implement plan devised by the head coach in an effective manner. Be available at practices and competitions as necessary.
Teach squash skills and implement training plans devised by the head coach, supervise actual performance of the team and student athletes during practice and intercollegiate competition. Maximize each student’s level of athletic performance and encourage and support academic engagement and success.
Weekday afternoon and early evening hours. Weekend hours based on team practices and match schedules. Other hours as needed.
This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position.
Job Requirements: A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field is strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Required skills include: Knowledge of squash strategy and training methods and ability to effectively teach them; ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes; commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the college community and the ability to influence his/her athletes to do the same; working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them. The coach must be self directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work in a stressful environment. Valid driver's license and ability to meet the standards of the College's current Motor Vehicle Policy required. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification must be maintained.
Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching Squash is preferred.
