ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, ANNUAL FUND LEADERSHIP GIVING SOCIETIES
Annual Giving at Boston University is simple. Each year, alumni, students, parents, and friends choose to support everything from softballs to software at BU. These gifts are then deployed to fund research, provide emergency student assistance, pay for travel to academic conferences, and lots more throughout the year.
The Assistant Director, Annual Fund Leadership Giving Society (AFLGS)is responsible for growing membership to the AFLGS by developing and implementing strategies to attract new donors, retain and upgrade current donors, and ultimately increase current-use giving to the university. With a focus on top Annual Fund prospect management and in partnership with the Director of the Annual Fund, colleagues in the schools and colleges, central development and alumni relations teams, the Assistant Director plays a key role in maximizing Annual Fund revenue and strengthening the major gift pipeline.
This role will oversee the strategy to increase the number of AFLGS members, by coordinating and implementing meaningful benefits for members (insider access to information and events,) collaborating with other Annual Giving and Alumni Relations teammates on stewardship opportunities, as well as build partnerships with leadership gift officers to insert messaging about AFLGS in conversations, including coordinating solicitation and stewardship events (including management of board appeals twice annually.)
This role will also develop, coordinate, and monitor Annual Fund solicitation plans and outcomes for top Annual Fund prospects, by form collaborative partnerships with DAR colleagues to develop solicitation plans for managed prospects who are key annual fund donors, tracking and managing annual fund challenge sponsors for our marquee participation event, BU Giving Day.
The Assistant Director will manage reporting and analysis efforts to increase membership in AFLGS, including communicate regularly with gift officers about managed prospect participation including leverage internal and external databases to identify leadership donor and volunteer leads. This includes reviewing upgrade and downgrade trends for members and individuals to identify moves and 2nd ask/upgrade opportunities.
This position will also provide oversight and strategic guidance for Annual Fund Leadership Gift Society direct marketing, by working with direct marketing team on mail, email solicitation packages and messaging, reviewing segmentation strategies and data, and project manage board appeals twice annually.
