The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
The appointee in this position administers and teaches general chemistry both as an on-campus and as an on-line course. The position may also provide opportunities to instruct upper division chemistry lecture/laboratory courses.
The department of chemistry serves a central role to the educational, research and outreach missions of the University delivering over 50,000 student credit hours of instructions each year while maintaining a vibrant graduate program with over 100 Ph. D. students. The department conducts cutting-edge research and scholarly activities focused on all areas of chemistry important to biology, materials and the environment – including analytical, biological, bio-organic, environmental, materials nuclear and physical chemistry. This dynamic setting ideally suited for nurturing and supporting instructional faculty in their efforts to support the department’s educational mission which impacts over 4000 students each year.

Typically requires Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks.
Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field.
Experience teaching Chemistry (in classroom, on-line, or laboratory).
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
