NCA&T's Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OSPIE) seeks an experienced Data Analyst to lead the Data Management and Analytics team, and to provide critical support to the other teams in the unit. The unit supports a range of critical projects and issues by leveraging institutional data with a deep understanding of post secondary education and the University. The person in this position will be responsible for delivering information and data to support strategic decisions.
Person in the position needs to be results-oriented and prepared to address the challenges of post secondary education with excellent skills in planning, team and data management, communication, and analytics.

The Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OSPIE) fosters student success and the University's effectiveness by facilitating evidence-based decision-making. OSPIE serves as the primary source of official data reported from all major administrative systems across the University, conducts objective research and analysis for decision makers, prepares reports that improve understanding of institutional and program performance, builds data collections, facilitates access to institutional data, and advocates for data quality and integrity. OSPIE supports student learning assessment, the development and evaluation of academic programs and administrative functions, and institutional and program accreditation.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or Bachelor’s degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development; or Associate’s degree in computer programming and three years of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Journey level requires an additional one year of experience. - Three or more years of experience in an Institutional Research or Registrar's Office. - Master's degree in a research or analytical field of study. - Strong data management skills including the ability to work with large data sets. - Experience with Banner ERP system, relational databases, and their associated query tools (SQL Developer, Microsoft SQL Server, SAS, or WebFocus). - Ability to clearly document work processes, analytical findings and finalize results. - Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as attention to detail. - Ability to work independently, as well as on a team, in a fast paced environment. - Ability to manage flow of institutional data to all internal and external clients, prioritize projects, and make sure requests are completed with high quality and in a timely manner. - Demonstrated programming ability with statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, or R. SAS programming skills are preferred. - Strong statistical and analytical skill set. - Experience with University of North Carolina System's Student Data Mart (SDM). - Five years of relevant work experience. - Demonstrated skills in identifying, analyzing and solving problems related to institutional data. - High level of fluency with current standards and best practices in institutional research.
