Perform a variety of accounting tasks involved in maintaining financial records and processing related data; prepare budget proposals; monitor, verify and reconcile accounts in a varied and highly complex environment exercising a high degree of judgment in selecting and applying guidelines and policy. Many duties involve access and use of confidential information.
KEY PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS
1.Review and approve documents to verify the validity of complicated transactions and the availability of funds and to assure that all necessary information is present.
Â·Identify and correct errors in documents where discrepancies require complex corrections
Â·Make document coding determinations
Â·Use Vanderbilt accounting standards and all applicable Financial Management guidelines
2.Prepare and review financial and/or statistical statements and reports
Â·Perform a variety of accounting tasks involved in maintaining financial records and processing related data such as invoices, vouchers and other documents
Â·Monitor and reconcile accounts with financial statements
Â·Trace non-routine transactions and reconcile accounts requiring judgment and broad knowledge of accounting procedures
Â·Maintain interface with departmental and VUMC personnel to obtain and provide information to verify or support financial records and ensure compliance with established VUMC policies and procedures
Â·Prepare correspondence and answer inquiries regarding accounting information as required.
Â·Prepare complex journal entries and adjustment documents
Â·Compile financial information and prepare financial reports and statements reflecting various data for utilization by leadership
Â·Prepare various financial and accounting forms and logs
Â·Use VUMC accounting standards consistent with Financial Management formatting standards and completed in a timely manner based on Financial Management guidelines
3.Create spreadsheets independently or with minimal supervision as needed by the project
Â·Use intermediate Excel skills to create accurate spreadsheets
Â·Use efficient data collection and integration processes
4.May handle cash and negotiable instruments
Â·Use Vanderbilt accounting standards for cash procedures in conjunction with Financial Management and University guidelines to accurately account for
