The University’s School of Health and Human Sciences is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer/ Lecturer in a Teaching Scholar role with a focus on Professional Experience Learning in the discipline area of Speech-Language Pathology. The position will contribute to clinical education coordination, management and assessment for students on placement and support teaching in clinical education units and other units of study.

The School supports degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as postgraduate research degrees. An evidence-based approach to education is promoted across the curricula. The School has a strong track record in research and provides research training at Honours, Masters and PhD levels.
Working closely in Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology, with the Group Lead of Allied Health and Midwifery, the Professional Experience Team and members of the speech-language pathology team, allied health teams and industry partners, the appointee will ensure the delivery of a high standard of innovative, learner-centred undergraduate education that is cognisant of professional standards, and the philosophy and aims of the Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology curriculum.
The successful applicant will be responsible for liaison between clinical facilities and the University. They will work proactively to ensure the continued quality and growth of placement opportunities for students, to ensure learning outcomes are achieved, and assure access and equity and the quality of student placements. They will design and deliver orientation and support programs for clinical teachers, clinical facilitators and/or fieldwork supervisors who are responsible for student learning whilst on clinical placement.
Acting as a point of contact for clinical teachers and clinical facilitators, the role also involves monitoring student progress whilst on placement and providing guidance on assessment and support for students. The applicant is expected to maintain professional engagement and participate in scholarship related to clinical placement education and student learning.
The successful applicant will have expertise in professional experience learning in a clinical setting, demonstrate leadership capability, and have a strong background in speech-language pathology clinical practice. The successful applicant may be required to travel between all University campuses in order to undertake their duties.
Required Skills and Experience
Ideally, the appointee should possess the following qualifications, skills, abilities and experience:
Masters level qualification in relevant field (Level B), or progress towards the same (Level A) with a minimum 5 years recent post graduate experience.
A qualification in higher education teaching and learning practice, or willingness to complete.
Demonstrated experience in the use of contemporary educational technologies and proven, practical experience in delivering speech-language pathology material in blended and online environments including digital interactive content delivery.
Current registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with Speech-Language Pathology Australia or eligible to register.
Knowledge of professional competency standards and quality assurance processes.
Recent clinical practice experience and proven excellence in evidence based practice.
Demonstrated experience in practice based education.
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication including written communication.
Proven ability to demonstrate leadership to members of a team.
A capacity for adaptability and flexibility and a rapidly changing environment.
Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and a working knowledge of equity and WHS principles in the workplace.
