Responsible for planning, directing, organizing and managing the daily operation of the College's Nursing programs. In collaboration with the nursing faculty and staff, develops and maintains program curriculum, evaluation, and assessment of student learning outcomes and the use of instructional technology. Facilitates comprehensive program assessment and coordinates appropriate policy and program goals to align with the college mission and vision.
Maintains and facilitates the programs relationship with the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) mutual agreement for curriculum and admission requirements. Coordinates nursing faculty active participation in OCNE learning activities.
Facilitates Strategic Program Access (SPA) and Ed Assessment activities in compliancy with the college requirements and standards.
Coordinates with agencies and institutions in support of program activities and its students to include operational issues related to clinical sites, injuries or infectious exposures related to student clinical activity and interpersonal relationships with preceptors and other clinical personnel. Facilitates and monitors compliance with the Oregon Health Authority's regulations on student and faculty health and safety regulations for participating clinical activities.
Develops and maintains a working relationship with the program's clinical partners. Actively participates in the regional clinical placement consortium (StudentMAx) monthly meetings and activities. Attends administrative meetings, including, selected MHCC College Councils, Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) Coordinating Council for the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE). Oregon Council of Associate Degree Programs (OCAP) and Regional Advisory Board for Community College Nursing programs and Regional Clinical Placement Consortium (Student Max/ ACEMAPP)
Ensure that the program complies with the requirements of both the Oregon State Board of Nursing and the National League of Nursing Commission for Nursing Education. Actively engaged in continued Accreditation reports and surveys.
Serve as a liaison between the Nursing department and the other college departments or programs. Facilitates articulation of the Nursing program with other institutions of higher learning and develops partnerships with external agencies.
Actively engaged in student recruitment for the program, advising and informational sessions. Oversees the selection of student applicants by collaborating with the MHCC faculty and the college admissions office. Directs and oversees program academic advising to include implementation of grade changes, petition for Leave of Absence from the program, application for graduation and enrollment.
Coordinates with the Dean of Health Professions and Human resources in the recruitment and selection of program instructors. Facilitates and coordinates faculty activities related to academic policies, contractual requirements for workload, personnel policies, faculty development and evaluation, in accordance with the college policy and expectations, and college-wide meetings and in-services.
In consultation with the dean, and faculty, initiates class schedule, clinical schedules and faculty assignments.
Coordinates the activities of program advisory councils to include recruitment and appointment of members and maintenance of meeting minutes.
In consultation with the Dean of Health professions, participates in the allocation, preparation and monitoring of the program budget. Identifies needs for supplies, instructional material and equipment replacement, purchase and repair.
Serves as a contact person/coordinator for the programs with regard to state, professional and accrediting groups, employer partners, the community and other external contacts.
Creating and sustaining student-centered learning environment and services that promote student success.
Work collaboratively with faculty and dean to resolve student complaints.
Be available to teach Nursing courses or lab if the need arises.
Meet all required standards of confidentiality and safety related to the faculty and the students. Enforce FERPA regulations.
