The Campus Learning Center Coordinators supports the Assistant Directors in implementing student-centered learning support programs, including tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI), designed to promote academic and individual success. The coordinator handles daily operations including scheduling, supervision, training and evaluations of tutors and SI leaders.
Supporting the Assistant Directors in providing tutoring/SI support to address the needs of students across the university; handling daily center operations including consultant scheduling, training, and supervision; developing and implementing training workshops to meet particular staff needs; providing high quality supervision through verbal and written feedback, including formal and informal evaluations for staff; helping develop and maintain Campus Learning Center instructional and recruitment materials (web-based and print); staying abreast of current student needs and being responsive to those needs; promoting Campus Learning Center services through orientation, campus partnerships, and outreach opportunities; performing other duties as assigned.
Candidates must have a master’s degree from an accredited institution. Background in working with university students and student success based in a learning-centered environment. Demonstrated initiative and excellence in oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellence in staff management and organization, including supervising undergraduates. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage and connect with students and staff. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Minimum of two years working in a learning support center. A master’s degree in Higher Education, Learning Support, Counseling or a related area.
