JOB SUMMARY: This nursing manager position has responsibility and accountability for managing all aspects of daily operations. The management functions of the nurse manager include: insuring quality patient care delivery in accordance with professional standards, regulations and quality initiatives; personnel evaluation, assignments, staffing and scheduling; and ensuring patient care, financial and operational goals of the unit(s) supervised are met. Demonstrates clinical leadership that includes advocacy, critical thinking, decision-making and problem solving. Coordinates patient transitions across the continuum of care and makes shift-to-shift decisions concerning stewardship of resources. Organizes the provision of care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing, Bachelor's Degree required. 2. Must hold a current RN license in the State of Minnesota. 3. Minimum of five years nursing experience, 3 years in Labor & Delivery, post- partum required. Charge or clinical leadership experience required. 4. Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in Women's Health and Birth and ability to orient and develop clinical competency in additional unit. 5. Successful completion of BLS, NRP, ACLS, and additional certification as might be required on specific units. 6. The Nurse Manager must have the ability to function independently within the parameters of professional nursing practice, as shown by consistent clinical practice that produces appropriate patient outcomes and high patient-family satisfaction. 7. The Nurse Manager must have proven critical thinking skills to objectively solve complex problems in rapidly changing patient care services. 8. The Nurse Manager must possess effective communication skills with other staff, departments, and patients and families. 9. Is required to know and uphold the Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital's Mission, Vision and Value statement, and must demonstrate the behavioral expectations of Grand Itasca as listed in the Administrative manual and demonstrate the ability to explain the specific application of the mission and values to this job.
UNIT SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS 1. External fetal monitoring interpretation course completion. 2. Prior post-partum and newborn care experience required and demonstrates competence in this area of nursing care. 3. Strong knowledge of ACOG Standards. 4. Perform other related duties as required.
