The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a stimulating community of inquiring adults, age 50 and above, exploring new areas of knowledge and traditional disciplines through courses, lectures, and events. There are no examinations or grades. OLLI faculty are experts in their fields and enthusiastic about teaching OLLI members, who bring a broad range of life experiences and knowledge to enrich the exchange of ideas. Responsibilities include: •Under supervision, assists in organizing internal and external business-related functions, courses, lectures, field trips, and program and social events; coordinates the instructional technologies and accessibility measures needed; coordinates and provides technical support to faculty, speakers, and staff in courses and events at multiple on- and off-campus venues. •Oversees the work of volunteer Class Assistants in cooperation with the OLLI volunteer leader charged with recruiting, placing, and training them. In coordination with other staff, provides onsite support for most programs. •Generates, maintains, and distributes class rosters, membership cards, guest lists, and coordinates the distribution of all classroom materials and communications. •Assist with course registrations, record maintenance, routine correspondence, and related business transactions and other duties as needed, including handling of cash and checks, and processing credit card transactions. •Research equipment and software and recommend policies and procedures that will maximize resource utilization for managing multiple events and overall administration. •Assists in researching and reserving of rental facilities and parking options for OLLI programs, including on-campus and off-campus venues.Knowledge & Skills: •Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations. •Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. •Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. •Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus to the public. •Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and/or management.
Education/Training: •Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. This is a 3 year contract employment opportunity working 75% time with full UC benefits.
