Client Systems Architects interface with multiple stakeholders in order to understand requirements, domain, viable technology, and development. The work includes determining multiple design alternatives, assessing such alternatives based on given or self-defined criteria, and selecting the most suited option to recommend and implement a final design. The output of such work sets the core properties of the client architecture, including those that are hardest to change later.
Client Architects are top level technical experts responsible for design and development of an information services environment. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to; client/server, virtualization, operating systems LAN/WAN, telephony, mobile devices, desktop, mainframe, e-business, and applications. Demonstrates expertise in technical strategy and design infrastructure during all phases of development and deployment. Ensures technology solutions are services are architected appropriately for the availability, accessibility and scalability requirements of the organization.
Advises on sections of technical purchases with regards to processing, data storage, data access, and applications development. Advises of feasibility of potential future projects to management. Provides escalated support for highly complex technical problems associated with the enterprise infrastructure. Investigate and solve performance issues to ensure consistent deliver of infrastructure services.
Sets standards for the information systems architecture, related database structure for the organization (SQL, ORACLE, SYBASE, etc.), Windows Active Directory Services, Windows server and client architecture, client hardware, and other client architecture as required.
Information services knowledge should include detailed knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) design and management including extensive knowledge of AD Group Policy, Microsoft Sites and Services infrastructure design, Client management, application deployment, remote desktop support, inventory, reporting services (Microsoft SCCM), Virtual Application strategies (Microsoft App-V, Citrix, and VMWare), Client Security protection (McAfee, Trend Micro OfficeScan, Microsoft Forefront), and other Microsoft Windows services including Server Operating Systems (OS), Client OS, and Microsoft SQL database technologies.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Degree or GED required
Bachelor's Degree in applicable field, such as Telecommunications, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
Equivalent work education & experience considered in lieu degree.
Minimum Experience Requirements
8 years of progressively responsible experience in network planning, analysis, operations and design.
Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred.
Must be an organized self-starter and able to work independently.
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Responsible for feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the establishment and implementation of new or revised information systems based on the corporate strategic goals.*
Review Strategic Technologies as they are developed and released; recommend and implement where and when required.*
Design and consults on the implementation of new information systems.*
Build/implement new information systems.*
Assists in projecting hardware requirements.*
Sets the client workstation hardware baseline standards and advised on all client hardware standards, including peripherals.*
Consults with personnel in other information systems sections to coordinate activities.*
Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the activities of the network group.*
Call rotation for after-hours required.*
