Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $57,300 - $99,900/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Title IX office of the University of California, Santa Cruz is charged with ensuring University compliance with all Title IX related policies and procedures by responding to all campus Title IX complaints and reports. The Title IX office facilitates alternative resolutions and conducts formal investigations of complaints and reports filed by students, employees, and the public. The UC Santa Cruz Title IX office consists of a Title IX Officer, Deputy Title IX Officer, three Principal Investigators/Complaint Resolution Officers, and a Response Team Coordinator.
The Principal Investigator/Complaint Resolution Officer (PI/CRO) reports directly to the Deputy Title IX Officer with general oversight by the Title IX Officer. Under general supervision, the PI/CRO focuses on responding to Title IX complaints of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and sex discrimination. The PI/CRO exercises independent judgment during the intake, alternative resolution, and formal investigation of complaints and in generating strategies and/or recommendations for the resolution of complaints. The PI/CRO also provides impartial consultation, conflict resolution, and problem solving in response to complaints and inquiries received from members of the campus community and affiliates, including employees, students, parents, and the public. The PI/CRO is considered a campus subject matter expert on investigation best practices, conducts relevant research and makes recommendations to the Deputy Title IX Officer and Title IX Officer regarding continuous quality improvement in unit investigation operations. The PI/CRO may also conduct trainings on best practices for prevention of sex/gender discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment.

Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent professional certification, work experience and training.
Demonstrated experience in successful assessment, investigation, and resolution of concerns and complaints brought to an office like the Title IX office including, but not limited to, strong skills in and working knowledge of conflict resolution, problem solving techniques, complaint screening, witness interviewing, providing consultation and advice, and conducting investigations.
Strong analytical skills, particularly the ability to analyze and apply complex laws, legal guidance and policies.
The ability to exercise independent judgment, to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, be discrete, and maintain neutrality in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility. Commitment to principles of due process, fairness and respect.
