Position: Head of Middle School
Stanley British Primary School seeks a leader for the middle school program (6th-8th grades), to begin July, 2018. He or she will work collaboratively with a stable and dynamic faculty to build upon the 20-year history of the program’s development. Fundamental to the success of Stanley’s middle school is upholding core British Primary values while preparing students for a successful transition to their high school years. The middle school community is comprised of 150 students and 18 staff.

The Middle School Head creates a clear vision and direction for faculty, students, and parents by demonstrating forward thinking, supporting a mindset of continual growth and improvement in the educational programs, and demonstrating engaging, visible, and dependable leadership.
Towards this end, the Middle School Head:
recruits, supports and evaluates the middle school faculty
leads a collaborative process with faculty to assess and evolve the middle program
oversees curriculum development
collaborates with other division leaders in the school to build alignment and connection K-8
provides a middle school perspective on the school’s Senior Administrative Team and Board of Trustees
maintains a middle school community in which student physical and emotional safety and well-being are paramount
oversees student support systems and resolves discipline matters
stays abreast of current educational practice to support and challenge faculty

The successful candidate will have:
significant experience leading a team of educators, including experience designing professional development programs
expertise in the developmental needs of middle school students
strong organizational and time management skills
an ability to balance sometimes competing needs of staff, students, and parents
strong verbal and written communication skills
a demonstrated alignment with the principles of British Primary educational philosophy
an understanding of middle school best practices, including a strong grasp of curricular needs of young adolescents, academically and socially
a commitment to furthering middle school and K-8 equity and inclusiveness goals
