Job Purpose Towson University is accepting applications for a entry level Blackboard Administrator. This position will manage and support all functional aspects of the Blackboard environment. Provide support to its users via workshops, documentation, movie tutorials, service requests and consultations. Work with educational departments on campus for user buy-in and support. Work with individual faculty to set courses up in Blackboard from a functional standpoint. Enhance the Blackboard environment through the investigation and deployment of new technologies in collaboration with the Manager of Blackboard Administration.
Description The Blackboard Administrator will conduct consultation session with faculty to support the creation and implementation of course customization. Assist students with functional Blackboard course site issues. Conduct consultation sessions with staff to create community sites for groups, departments and organizations. Create and conduct Blackboard workshops to support faculty, staff and students. Market the Blackboard environment on campus to increase user buy-in. Coordinate Student Blackboard Administrators support on consultations and workshops.
Responsible for Blackboard level II service requests. Service request turn around for the workgroup is within 24 business hours (48 business hours during the beginning of the semester rush). Responsible for coordinating Blackboard support with the Blackboard Help Desk Service, Blackboard Student Administrators, and full time Blackboard Administrators. Produce documentation and movie tutorials related to all areas of Blackboard to support faculty, staff, students and workshop participants. Maintain and enhance the www.towson.edu/blackboard website with updated support information. Manage and support the Snapshot process to populate Blackboard via PeopleSoft information; this information will include user account creation, course creation and course enrollment. Participate in the investigation, support and development of new integrations in the Blackboard Environment including Building Blocks, LTI integrations, and Ed Tech Apps. Support other technologies that integrate into Blackboard or are supported by the Blackboard team. Perform other duties as assigned or approved by this position's supervisor.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience managing software applications and troubleshooting software applications. Candidate must have good customer service skills, business writing skills and ability to prioritize tasks and mange time to cover support and meet deadlines on assigned tasks.
Experience with functional administration of an LMS (Towson University's LMS is Blackboard Learn), teaching workshops and providing consultative guidance for software or web based technology preferred. Experience coordinating third party services and applications, reviewing digital products against section 508 and WCAG Accessibility Standards and coaching clients to create accessible content also preferred.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
